Let Us Pray Let us Pray. In this a familiar scenario ….. Dear Lord……………. Dear Father ……….. Oh loving Heavenly Father. Sometimes praying seems hard, finding the right words to address God can sometimes be a difficult task! Maybe its’ the experience of hearing eloquent prayers from people in church with lots of religious language that make us feel that our simple are inadequate and not good enough for God. What nonsense! God loves to hear his children talk to him. A father is just as excited hearing a baby’s first words and a toddlers attempt to describe things as he is hearing a grown up child give masterful performance with a speech or lecture. The truth is God loves talking with his children and the more we talk to the Lord, the more we pray the easier it becomes. In scripture we find prayers for everything possible situation. Prayers of Praise, thanksgiving, confession, intercession and surrender. In the Word of God there are prayers that we can use in times of trouble and suffering, words of prayers when we need guidance and are seeking spiritual growth. Sometimes we read of someone in scripture who is going through a similar experience to ourselves. We read what they say to the Lord and think, ‘that says it all, that’s exactly how I feel. – Well pray their prayer and expect God to answer and meet your need. Lets’ praise and worship God together in prayer. Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. 6 You alone are the LORD . You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. You have kept your promise because you are righteous. Nehemiah 9,verses 5,6 & 8.
No one is like you, O
LORD ;
But the LORD is the true God; However, the most simple of prayers can sometimes have the most impact. Desiderus Erasmus wrote, O Lord Jesus Christ, You have said That you are the way, the truth, and the life. Suffer us not to stray from you, who are the way, nor to distrust you, who are the truth, nor to rest in anything other than you, who are the life, What a powerful prayer! Richard of Chichester wrote Thanks be to thee. Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits which thou has won for us, for all the pains and insults which thou has borne for us. O most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother. may we know thee more clearly, love thee more and follow thee more nearly, day by day. Finally, there is one prayer that God loves to hear us pray after all its’ a prayer that His son Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew chapter 6. 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Talk to God today!
